ABOUT

The Great Big Fuss Up is a new, invitation only micro festival on the outskirts of Newquay.

Hello lovely friends and family. If you’re reading this, it’s because you got an invitation in the post from me! It’s a lot of our 40th birthdays this year and what better way to celebrate than a huge party for everyone.

I have decided, since moving home to Cornwall, that I LOVE living here, but that I miss seeing my friends. Obviously lockdown hasn’t helped that either. We always say ‘yes – we must catch up!’ but life inevitably gets in the way and months and years pass. Well, after the past few years we’ve had, I think this is the perfect opportunity to have something awesome in the diary to look forward to!

Now you’ll know that I love music, and dancing, and dressing up, being silly and ultimately making people smile. You’ll also know that I don’t do things by halves…

Imagine the scene. 499 people, one big top, bar, music, dancing (all night), ridiculous outfits, lots of people hanging out with their friends for a weekend in the middle of nowhere (ish)

HERE IS THE PLAN...

Friday 17th September
Campers can arrive from 5pm and set up their tents/campervans ready for the weekend. There will be food and drink on sale from 6pm until midnight, with some chilled live music to relax everyone into the weekend.

Saturday 18th September
Food & coffee will be on sale all day from 8am. Feel free to disappear to the beach or just hang out in the field with your friends. We will be organising some games etc and general silliness for those who are interested!

The music & entertainment will kick off and the bar will open from 3pm and will continue into the wee hours of Sunday morning, with the help of silent disco headsets from midnight so we won’t keep any livestock (or lightweights) awake past midnight.

If you would rather just pop in for the afternoon on the Saturday, come and say hi, eat, drink, dance and then head home or to a hotel afterwards then that’s absolutely fine. There is no requirement to camp or stay, but the option is there for those that do.

IT’S FANCY DRESS, FOLKS!

For any of you that ever went to the SAS Ball back in the day, this is a micro version of that (without the ability to fall off a cliff!) so we are expecting to see some outrageous outfits on the Saturday night please! I can guarantee that you will feel very left out should you not be in costume so get planning now!

There will be facepainters on site on Saturday afternoon and evening so you can have your faces painted to match your costume for full effect. Nothing is too flamboyant!!

Sunday 19th September
Again food and lots of coffee will be on sale all morning and we ask campers to head home as soon as safe to do so!

FOOD & DRINK

There will be a fully stocked contactless bar open on Friday evening and from mid-afternoon onwards on Saturday, plus some lovely local, exciting street food, coffee & ice cream on offer all weekend too. You are welcome to bring your own food & drink to have at your tents, but please - only food & drink bought on site can be consumed at the big top.

ACCOMMODATION

We are hoping that most of you will bring either tents or campervans and will stay on site for the weekend. The loos and showers are booked, there is water on site and limited hard standing for those that need it. If you want to come but stay locally instead then please make sure you get your accommodation & taxis booked early!!

KIDS

Children are of course welcome and I’d far rather you all come than none, however this is also an opportunity for parents to have weekend away from our little darlings – something most of us haven’t had for a long time!

We will have bouncy castles, lots of games and hopefully a magician to provide entertainment and the field itself is huge providing a safe and contained space for them to have fun and go nuts.

If you are bringing your children please just make sure you let us know on the RSVP and please note that parents will be responsible for their children at all times when on site.

If you are local and have childcare for the evening but want to come along with your children in the day to enjoy the fun and games you are very welcome. Simply include this in the RSVP.
